A research project by Konstantina Georgelou and Efrosini Protopapa, that studies dramaturgy as a practice of lateral movement and, in turn, moving laterally as a dramaturgical practice. Moving laterally, sideways, instead of linearly and directly, possibilises decentering, incidentalness, incosistency and opaqueness in knowledge and attention. In our aim to resist the anxiety of reasserting knowledge, and to suspend knowing by maintaining what is present, we are also searching for ways to move with our research sideways. We take into account that in western educational institutions and organizations, moving/thinking is mostly expected to be progressive and quantifiable, and laterality is usually associated with thinking creatively or ‘out of the box’ rarely contributing to decentering actions thereafter. This research is taking the form of public exchanges, performative dialogues, writings and seminars.
